Manuscript Submission

EKONOMIKA SYARIAH • FOR AUTHORS

Submissions

Updated preparation, ethical declarations, formatting, and online-submission requirements.

Submit through OJS only. Authors should use the current journal template, complete all metadata, and ensure that the manuscript is ready for double-anonymous review.

1Before You Submit

  • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The topic fits the journal’s focus on Islamic economics, finance, banking, business, philanthropy, halal industry, digital finance, policy, sustainability, or related interdisciplinary areas.
  • All authors have approved the manuscript, author order, affiliations, and corresponding-author designation.
  • Necessary ethics approvals, permissions, consent procedures, and data protections have been obtained where applicable.
  • Funding, conflicts of interest, data availability, and substantive generative-AI use are disclosed when relevant.

2Manuscript Format

  • Use an editable Microsoft Word document and the latest official template.
  • Prepare the manuscript on A4 paper according to the template. As a general guide, full articles are approximately 7,000–9,000 words or within the equivalent page range stated in the template.
  • Title: concise and informative. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and overly broad claims.
  • Abstract: approximately 150–200 words, clearly stating the purpose, method, principal findings, and conclusion/contribution.
  • Keywords: 3–5 specific terms that support discoverability.
  • Main text should normally include Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, declarations where applicable, and References.
  • Tables and figures must be numbered, cited in the text, legible, and accompanied by clear titles/captions.

3Language

The current journal website permits manuscripts in English and Bahasa Indonesia. English is strongly encouraged for international accessibility. Whichever language is used, the manuscript must be academically clear and professionally edited. Titles, abstracts, keywords, and metadata should follow the current template and OJS requirements.

4References and Citation Style

Recent 2026 articles published by the journal use an author–date reference format consistent with APA style. Authors should therefore prepare citations and references consistently using APA 7th edition unless a newer official template explicitly states otherwise.

  • Use a reference manager such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote.
  • Prioritize primary, peer-reviewed, relevant, and recent scholarship while retaining essential foundational sources.
  • Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list and every reference-list item must be cited in the text.
  • Include DOI links when available and verify every bibliographic record against the original source.

5Similarity and Originality Screening

Manuscripts are screened using similarity-detection software. As an editorial screening benchmark, overall similarity should normally not exceed 20% after appropriate exclusions for the reference list, properly quoted material, and small technical matches. A similarity percentage is not, by itself, proof of plagiarism; editors evaluate the nature, location, and attribution of overlapping material.

Manuscripts with problematic unattributed overlap, duplicate publication, or manipulated citations may be returned, rejected, or handled under the journal’s research-misconduct procedures regardless of the numerical score.

6Peer Review and Editorial Decision

Submissions that pass editorial screening are evaluated through double-anonymous peer review, normally by at least two independent reviewers. Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript more than once. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or delegated editor based on the complete editorial record, not solely on a single reviewer recommendation.

7Online Submission Checklist

  1. Log in or register as an Author in the journal’s OJS platform.
  2. Select the appropriate section/article type and complete the submission checklist.
  3. Upload the anonymized manuscript and any required supplementary files.
  4. Enter complete metadata for all authors, including correct names, affiliations, countries, and email addresses; add ORCID where available.
  5. Add title, abstract, keywords, references, funding information, and other required declarations accurately.
  6. Review all files and metadata before final submission. Do not submit the same manuscript more than once.
Legacy instructions that direct manuscripts to the former IAIN website/email or require MHRA footnotes should be removed because they no longer match the current OJS record and recent published article style.
