English ManuscriptsDouble-Blind ReviewAPA 7th Edition
Important 2026 update

FUADUNA currently accepts manuscripts in English. All manuscripts must use the current journal template and follow the reference style used in the journal's 2026 publications: APA 7th edition. Authors should not rely on older guideline versions that still mention Chicago Full Note.

General Requirements

A submission must be original, within FUADUNA's scope, written in clear academic English, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal.

  • Originality: the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Scope: the manuscript must make a clear contribution to the interdisciplinary study of religion and society.
  • Language: manuscripts are submitted in English. Authors are responsible for language quality.
  • File format: submit an editable Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) using the latest FUADUNA template.
  • Blind review: remove names, affiliations, acknowledgements, and other identifying information from the review manuscript.
  • Research integrity: fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate submission, citation manipulation, and inappropriate authorship are prohibited.
  • Similarity screening: authors should ensure that the manuscript is appropriately original; FUADUNA may conduct similarity checks during editorial screening.

Manuscript Structure

  1. Title: concise, informative, and normally no more than 12 words. Avoid uncommon abbreviations.
  2. Author metadata: full name, institutional affiliation, country, email address, and ORCID where available are entered in OJS metadata, not in the blinded manuscript.
  3. Abstract: one paragraph of approximately 150–200 words stating the problem or question, purpose, method, principal findings, and contribution or novelty.
  4. Keywords: 3–5 specific terms or phrases that support discoverability.
  5. Introduction: research context, problem/gap, engagement with relevant scholarship, research question or objective, and the article's contribution.
  6. Methods / Approach: explain research design, sources or participants, data collection, analytical procedure, and ethical considerations where applicable.
  7. Results and Discussion: present evidence clearly, interpret the findings, engage prior scholarship, and explain the article's theoretical or practical contribution.
  8. Conclusion: answer the research question, summarize the main contribution, acknowledge limitations where relevant, and identify implications or future research.
  9. Declarations: include funding, conflicts of interest, acknowledgements, data availability, ethical approval, and substantive use of generative AI where applicable.
  10. References: include only works cited in the manuscript and verify every bibliographic detail and DOI.

References and Citation Style

FUADUNA uses APA 7th edition for in-text citation and the reference list. Authors are strongly encouraged to use a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.

  • Use a strong base of peer-reviewed journal literature; a manuscript should normally contain at least 20 relevant references.
  • Recent scholarship should be prioritized. As a general rule, at least 80% of cited journal articles should be from the last 10 years, while seminal, classical, archival, scriptural, or historically necessary sources may be older.
  • Add DOI links whenever a DOI is available and verify that each DOI resolves correctly.
  • Do not cite sources that the authors have not read or verified.

Ethics, Transparency, and Declarations

  • Human participants: where applicable, state ethics approval and informed consent or explain why formal approval was not required under the relevant standards.
  • Funding: identify all funding sources and grant numbers, or state that no specific funding was received.
  • Conflicts of interest: disclose relevant financial, professional, personal, or institutional competing interests, or state that none exist.
  • Authorship: all listed authors must meet FUADUNA's authorship criteria; gift, guest, and ghost authorship are prohibited.
  • Generative AI: AI systems cannot be authors. Substantive AI-assisted drafting, analysis, coding, translation, or image generation must be transparently disclosed and verified by the authors.
  • Data and materials: where ethically and legally possible, state how supporting data, transcripts, instruments, or other materials can be accessed.
Before Submission

Authors should read the Manuscript Types, Authorship Criteria, Article Processing Charges, and Research Misconduct policies before beginning the OJS submission process.

Policy note. This page should be read together with FUADUNA's Focus and Scope, Peer Review Process, Publication Ethics, Copyright and Licensing, and other applicable editorial policies. Where a conflict arises, the most recently approved journal policy applies.
