Abstract

The exhibiting of intimacy between middle-class Muslim couples and their social recognition in the public sphere are the topics of this essay. In essence, Islamic marriage is a worship ceremony that is intended to be used as an instrument of obtaining sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah—quality of life. The creation of a love bond between couples is the consequence of marriage, so this love bond eventually leads to interpersonal intimacy. The dynamics of intimacy between Muslim couples have evolved such that they now serve as a conduit for da'wah, which spreads virtuous teachings to the public regarding marriage. This essay aims to capture the identity problems of middle-class Muslim couples in digital relationships using a qualitative descriptive technique, without attempting to offer causal explanations or interpretations. Instead, it describes, identifies, and analyses the phenomena. This study concludes that Muslim couples' public displays of affection are not just an attempt to live their lives; they are also an attempt to be recognized by the online community, which has consequences for personal engagement to economics value. Whether intentionally or not, these conducts and conversations influence public perceptions. The intimate relationship displayed by a couple can have a beneficial or negative impact depending on the audience's response
