Journal of Islamic Tourism and Pilgrimage is a refereed academic journal that focuses on advancing the scholarly discourse in the fields of Islamic tourism, religious travel, pilgrimage studies, and the halal tourism industry. The journal aims to explore the intersections of faith, culture, economy, and mobility within the context of Muslim travel experiences, including Hajj and Umrah management, Islamic heritage tourism, sustainable tourism practices in Muslim destinations, and policy analysis related to Sharia-compliant tourism.
Journal of Islamic Tourism and Pilgrimage is a refereed academic journal that focuses on advancing the scholarly discourse in the fields of Islamic tourism, religious travel, pilgrimage studies, and the halal tourism industry. The journal aims to explore the intersections of faith, culture, economy, and mobility within the context of Muslim travel experiences, including Hajj and Umrah management, Islamic heritage tourism, sustainable tourism practices in Muslim destinations, and policy analysis related to Sharia-compliant tourism. Journal of Islamic Tourism and Pilgrimage is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It publishes original research articles, theoretical papers, and literature reviews that address contemporary issues and innovations in the Islamic tourism and pilgrimage sectors (see Focus and Scope). The journal is published twice a year, in June and December. Since its inception in 2025, Journal of Islamic Tourism and Pilgrimage has committed to providing a credible academic platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to contribute insights into the growing field of Islamic tourism. In 2025, the journal migrated to the Open Journal System (OJS) and became registered with Crossref, assigning a DOI to each published article to ensure lasting citation and discoverability. The journal is indexed in [insert indexers such as Google Scholar, Moraref, Garuda, and See More.
