Journal History
Al-Jamahiria: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Dakwah Islam is a peer-reviewed and open-access academic journal published by Universitas Islam Negeri Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The following chronology presents the major milestones in the journal's development.
- June 30, 2023: Al-Jamahiria published its inaugural issue, Volume 1, Number 1. The issue contained eight original research articles written or co-written by 11 authors representing five institutional affiliations in Indonesia.
- 2023: The journal obtained the electronic International Standard Serial Number e-ISSN 3026-4405 and established the DOI prefix 10.30983/aljamahiria. Digital Object Identifiers are assigned to published articles to support permanent identification, accessibility, and citation.
- 2023–2024: Al-Jamahiria maintained its regular biannual publication schedule, publishing two issues annually in June and December. During this period, the journal expanded its authorship and institutional representation while strengthening its editorial management, peer-review process, publication ethics, and digital accessibility.
- June 30, 2025: Al-Jamahiria published Volume 3, Number 1, containing eight original research articles written or co-written by 16 authors from ten institutional affiliations and two countries, Indonesia and Malaysia. This issue marked an important stage in the journal's international authorship development.
- December 2, 2025: Volume 3, Number 2 was published with eight original research articles written or co-written by 14 authors from nine institutional affiliations in Indonesia and Afghanistan. The issue further strengthened the journal's international academic collaboration.
- June 2, 2026: Al-Jamahiria published Volume 4, Number 1, consisting of six original research articles written or co-written by 17 authors from eight institutional affiliations in Indonesia and India. The issue demonstrated the journal's growing geographical diversity and international reach.
- June 2026: Al-Jamahiria formally adopted English as the primary language for manuscripts submitted for Volume 4, Number 1 and subsequent issues. This policy was introduced to improve the journal's international readability, accessibility, and scholarly visibility.
- 2026: Al-Jamahiria achieved national accreditation as a SINTA Rank 3 journal. This achievement reflects the journal's progress in editorial governance, publication consistency, peer-review quality, research contribution, and national academic visibility.
- Present: Al-Jamahiria continues to strengthen its editorial quality, international authorship, publication ethics, metadata management, digital preservation, and academic visibility. The journal is committed to becoming a reputable scholarly platform for research in Islamic communication, da'wah, media, culture, and contemporary religious discourse.
