Knowbase: International Journal of Knowledge in Database is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by Universitas Islam Negeri Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December, and provides an international academic platform for disseminating original research and recent developments in database systems, data management, data science, knowledge discovery, and knowledge engineering.

Knowbase aims to advance theoretical understanding and practical innovation in the modelling, integration, processing, analysis, and utilization of data, information, and knowledge. Particular attention is given to research that supports intelligent decision-making, system optimization, automation, and technological innovation in the era of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. The journal encourages studies that connect academic research with real-world applications in industry, government, education, healthcare, business, and other data-intensive sectors.

The journal welcomes original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, methodological papers, and applied research addressing topics such as database design and architecture, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, information systems, business intelligence, knowledge-based systems, data security, cloud computing, big data analytics, decision-support systems, and emerging technologies related to data and knowledge management.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer-review process. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly originality, methodological rigor, academic significance, relevance to the journal’s scope, and compliance with publication ethics. Knowbase adheres to internationally recognized principles of scholarly publishing and follows the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Knowbase was initially accredited at SINTA Rank 4 under the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 72/E/KPT/2024. Following the national journal reaccreditation process, the journal was upgraded to SINTA Rank 2 in 2026, as announced in Official Letter Number 355/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026. This achievement reflects the journal’s continuing improvement in editorial governance, peer-review management, publication quality, academic contribution, and national and international visibility.

All published articles are registered with Crossref and assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure permanent identification, reliable citation, discoverability, and long-term accessibility. DOI assignment has been implemented since the journal’s inaugural issue. To strengthen its international scholarly reach and readership, Knowbase publishes manuscripts in clear, consistent, and standard academic English.
